Licensing, answered

What happens on a live site without a key?

The site keeps working. Visitors see an "Unlicensed MauiWeb" notice when the page opens, and again a few minutes after they close it. The same happens on a domain your key doesn't list.

Why per domain and not per developer?

Because you pay for the sites that go live, not for seats. Your whole team builds with one license, however many developers you add.

Does MauiWeb contact a license server?

No. The key is signed, and your server checks the signature and the visitor's domain itself. Your site keeps working if our servers are down, and nothing about your visitors is sent to us.

What happens when my year ends?

Your key keeps working with every MauiWeb release published during your year, for as long as you use those releases. Renew to keep getting new releases and support.

Where do I put the key?

In options.LicenseKey, or in the MAUIWEB_LICENSE_KEY environment variable on your server. Keep it out of your repository like any other secret.

Can I change my domains later?

Yes. On your order page (the link you get after checkout), edit your allowed domains within your plan's limit and generate a new key right away, up to three times a year.

Try it on your app first.

Everything works on your machine without a key. Ask for one when you are ready to go live.
